In 2012, Daiwa developed new “bait finesse” reel models in Japan in response to the demands of competition anglers using ultralight setups for baitcasting. But these reels – truly F1-level distillations of latest technologies – were built for a single purpose, with only the competitors on the bass circuits in the US and Japan were using them.
Daiwa drew on the technologies of the bait finesse reels to develop a more versatile range capable of casting heavier weights. This was the birth of the SV - Stress-Free Versatile - concept. The range of leads these reels can handle is impressive, spanning vibrations, spinnerbaits, rubber jigs and soft plastic baits on unweighted Texan rigs.
